{Faces of Hope} Emmy's Story | Fresno, Ca Photographer | Heather Marshall Photography

Emmy has loved to dance ever since she was in my belly.  When she was 3 years old in 2009 we decided to put her in dance at a studio in Fresno, she was thrilled.  She was  two weeks into her classes and I noticed her demeanor change.  She was quiet, did not want to play, and seemed to be coming down with what we thought was just a common cold.  I would ask if she wanted to stay home from dance and she said "oh no mommy, I have to learn the dance for our performance." So off to dance we would go.

Her legs were getting pretty bruised up and I thought it might just be because of her dancing.  So it was September 12, 2009 and the girls had a parade to be in before their performance.  Emmy was not happy and she did not feel well.  She pushed through and made it to her performance that evening with a big smile, everyone said how cute and beautiful she was.  Just hours after she was done she had a nose bleed that would not stop.  I slept next to her with my two fingers pinching her tiny nose to stop the bleeding and we went to the Emergency room the next morning.

Around 11:30 am we told that our baby girl had Leukemia.  Through her 11 blood transfusions, 8 platelet transfusions, so many procedures we have lost count, pancreatitus, and the ups and downs that come from chemo for the past 2 1/2 years our Angel has continued to have a smile on her face and love in her heart.  So much love that her strength is what gave myself and my husband HOPE.  HOPE that this was all for a reason, that God allowed us to fight this together, to show others HIS love through Emmy, and to give others she same HOPE and faith that we grew to have.  Emmy was diagnosed on September 13, 2009 at the age of 3 and on December 21st 2011 she was cleared of all cancer and chemotherapy!
